Frequently asked questions

Find quick answers to common questions
about our ultrasound services.

How long does an ultrasound appointment take?

All ultrasound appointments at our clinic are approximately 20-30 minutes long. This includes both the preparation and the actual imaging process.

What should I bring to my ultrasound visit?

Please bring your valid health card (OHIP or other). Comfortable clothing is recommended for easy access to the area being scanned.

Are all ultrasound services covered by OHIP?

Not all ultrasound services are covered by OHIP. While many medically necessary diagnostic ultrasounds are fully covered, some specialized or elective procedures may require out-of-pocket payment. Our staff will inform you in advance if any fees apply.

How should I prepare for my ultrasound?

Preparation depends on the type of ultrasound: Abdominal ultrasound: Please do not eat or drink for 8 hours before your appointment. Pelvic or pregnancy ultrasound: Drink 3–4 glasses of water one hour before your appointment and avoid using the restroom until after the scan. Other ultrasounds: No special preparation is usually needed. You will receive detailed instructions when booking your visit.

When will I receive my ultrasound results?

Ultrasound results are reviewed by a radiologist and sent to your doctor within 24 hours. Your doctor will then discuss the results with you. For privacy and accuracy, our technicians are not allowed to share results during the scan.
